Been a fan of this weirdo's graphical reviews for a while now. Here's his recent review of the film American Hardcore. The film pretty much skips the midwest scene!?! SST is discussed, but no TarBabies...

So for shits and giggles, I made my own plot:
Imagine the expressions while listening to this preview of the new MPs EP:
WRONG! On so many levels! At least we made the book huh?
MADISON
Madison, like DC or Austin, a college town (site of The University Of
Wisconsin) with a liberal tradition, didn't deal with much
desperation; most kids were the offspring of educators and
bureaucrats. Madison's first HC outfit MECHT MENSCH played their first
parties in early '81. These jerky DogTown-style skater kids - using a
silly rendering of an alligator as a symbol - were known for their
cult song, "Arf, Arf, It's A Dog's World." Mecht Mensch spawned TAR
BABIES, whose guitarist Bucky Pope was the guy to call if you wanted
to play Wisconsin's capital. Bucky also ran the local label Bone Air.
He and about 75 other scraggly kids treated No Trend well when we
played a VFW with Husker Du in '83.In the mid-80s Tar Babies inexplicably dumped Hardcore to emulate the
pulsating, rhythmic groove of DC GO-GO Funk a la Trouble Funk,
Experience Unlimited and Chuck Brown. These sly Wisconsin boyz
obviously could play all the notes adeptly - check out their LPs for
SST: '87's Fried Milk, '88's No Contest, '89's Honey Bubble - but they
could never truly "freak the funk" - an average White band, indeed!
Speaking of wrong, I just read this sentence:
"According to one analysis, if walking to work increases your appetite and you consume more meat or milk as a result, walking might actually emit more carbon than driving."
Happy EarthDay Muthaf*ckers!
Read last week that there will be 480 billion photos taken in 2008. How does one come up with a number like that? I suppose the camera phone really amplifies the # of pix taken. Where do they all go? Is there a virtual shoebox of electronic photos? Is it Flickr/Picasa/PhotoBucket?
My color shot of the week:
Been struggling to keep up...
I shot almost 500 frames last weekend and neglected to post my color assignment...
Do you know about Record Store Day? I am definitely heading to Mad City Music Exchange as they have an exciting day planned.
LOTS of free, cool goodies (free CDs, LPs and other great swag) to give away, discounts available only for the day only, and you chance to enter a new LP give away!

Record Stores Fight to Be Long-Playing
“It kind of gets boring when you’re trapped inside listening to music from your computer,” said Ms. Zeller, who had bought new CDs by Erykah Badu and the Black Keys. “I still like coming to the store.”
Products that aren’t fundamentally made up of ones and zeros — vinyl records, for instance, which have a habit of turning casual fans into collectors — have proved a salvation for many retailers. Eric Levin, the owner of Criminal Records in Atlanta and one of the organizers of Record Store Day, said vinyl accounted for a quarter of his music sales.
People like to bitch about bike culture becoming "couture." For some reason this fascinates me. I could buy a BMW C6 or save some cash and get the Chanel Bike. A mere $12,000
and I might as well sling this, the most expensive messenger bag ever, over my shoulder. Just shy of $4000 and made of weatherproof python.
he never meant shit to me!
